Switzerland : Zermatt

Spectacularly situated beneath the majestic Matterhorn, Zermatt has everything to offer in the way of fantastic skiing, picturesque surroundings and a lively nightlife. On arrival, by train from the village of Tasch, you will find the vibrant village centre entirely car-free, with only electric taxis and horse drawn sleighs, and streets packed with beautiful shops and boutiques. The is the place for the rich and famous! There are 3 ski areas - the Riffelberg, the Gornergrat (with its fantastic luxury mountain train) and the Kleiner Matterhorn / Theodul Glacier ski area. The Glacier area links to the lovely town of Cervinia in Italy. Zermatt has some drawbacks however. The town is expensive ! Also, there is a lot of skiing on roads which can ice up at times. The town is not that user friendly and not compact, so one walks a fair amount. The 3 ski areas do not link to each other perfectly from the town, and one sometimes has to ski one area to get to another !

Shops - lots of clothing and equipment shops, curios, mini-markets for food and essentials. The banks and ATM machines make life easy.

Night life - try the apres ski bars, pubs and more. For the youngsters there are the many disco's and clubs.

Adventure sports - there is walking, paragliding, indoor pools and X country skiing.

Restaurants abound, with all sorts of diners in town, as well as many mountain restaurants for skiers to enjoy.

If you are bored with skiing we will arrange excursions for you to places like Munich, Salzburg, Innsbruck etc !

The best is to fly in to Geneva airport. Meet us at the place designated in your resort arrival booklet for the transfer to the resort. It should take about 4 hours. The complication on the transfer is always the train ride on the last part of the valley and this takes the time.

We offer scheduled shuttle transfers and private transfers, depending on your wishes, and your arrival and departure times.

In the village we use the electric ski buses in this car free town.

The resort is child friendly, with child classes at Ski School, a kids snow area and menu's all over town designed for kids.

The village is also walkable and its impossible to get lost. Cars are not a danger at all.

There are lots of winter sports for kids like snow discing, games and activities.
